WANGANUI EAST CLUB WEEKLY CLUB NIGHT ENCOURAGING ATTENDANCE It must have been very encouraging to the committee of the Wanganui East Swimming Club to see such a good attendance of swimmers and supporters at the baths on Thursday evening, when the weekly club night was held. Many new members competed and all contestants showed improving form. The water was warm and the fixture proved a very enjoyable one. With a view to encouraging the social side of these weekly functions, the club is specialising in community swimming. This should assist to popularise the club and it is hoped Wanganui East residents will rally round and support this growing body of swimming enthusiasts. Following are the results of Thursday night’s events: — 25 Yards Boys’ Handicap.—Walker 1, Hansen 2. 25 Yards Ladies’ Handicap.—Miss P. Prince 1, Miss Richardson 2, Miss Ashby 3. Men’s Dive.-: —J. Walker 1, Tulloch 50 Yards Men’s Handicap. First Heat: Wakclcy 1, Gordon 2, Tullock 3. Second heat: Roydhouso 1, Gowan 2, Blackburn 3. Final: Roydhouse 1, Tullock 2. 50 Yards Open Breaststroke Handicap: M. Roydhouso 1, Miss Richardson 2, Miss Roydhouso 3. Cup competitions will commence next Thursday.
