MARKET FIRM FOR CLOSE (Australian Press Association.) Received Dec. 6, 5.5p.m. LONDON, Dec. 5. At the wool sales the catalogues totalled 111,800 bales. It is estimated 37,800 were sold at Home, 57,500 to the Continent, 3000 to tho United States and 13.500 wore held over. The sales closed with the market firm, all prices being above October rates. Greasy merinos maintained the full opening advance of five per cent, except for second-hand lots, which were slightly irregular. Scoureds advanced five per cent, and pieces and locks generally 10 per cent. Greasy crossbreds, after showing a fully 10 per cent, advance, closed about seven and a-half, scoureds five to seven and a-half, slipcs seven and a-half to 10, lambs (Merinos) fully 10, crossbreds five to 10. AGENTS’ REPORTS Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. Ltd. 1 are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated Dec. 5: “Sales have closed firm, competition good and general. Good clearance, compared with last London sales closing rates. Greasy Merino, best descriptions, advanced b per cent; greasy Merino, medium to good, par to 5 per cent; greasy Merino inferior, market irregular and show’s no change; scoured Merino, best descriptions, market shows no change; scoured Merino, other descriptions, par to o per cent advance; crossbred greasy fine, advanced 5 per cent, crossbred greasy medium and coarse, advanced 74 per cent.
