GIRLS DROWNED

SWEPT OUT BY UNDERTOW [ Australian T, ress Assn. 1 MELBOURNE, Dec. 6. Violet Lewis, aged eight, and Ailcen Lacey, aged 10, were caught by a strong undertow and carried out to sea and drowned at the South Melbourne beach. Two others were saved. Harry Prest, a life-saver, after strenuous efforts, brought one girl ashore, but efforts to revive her failed. The body of the other victim was later washed ashore.
