STRIKES MAY LEAD TO INCREASED FREIGHTS
THE AUSTRALIAN TRADE (Australian Press Assn.) LONDON, Dec. 5. The fears expressed in Australia that frequent strike dislocations will inevitably lead to an increase in freights have aroused a similar conjecture here. Some suggest that something will happen next year. Responsible quarters are not prepared to confirm or deny the possibility, but they point out, in relation to the natter, that the Aberdeen Commonwealth Line terms of sale provide for the reference first of such matters to the Australian committee. It is understood that the question of an increase has not gone beyond the discussion stage. Furthermore, there are considerable differences of opinion between members of the conference as to tho advisability of any move in that direction. Certainly there is nothing in any way definite. If the present indications are a guide, the balance of opinion is against an increase before New Year.
