HAGEN BRILLIANTLY DEFEATS COMPSTON HAS IHS REVHNGE. [ Australian Press Assn. ] Received July 26, 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, July 25. At Wayland, Massachusetts, endeavouring to avenge his defeat by Compston at Moor Park three months ago, Hagen met Compston in a 72holc match at Sandy Burr course for a 5000 dollar purse. Compston won the first 36 holes one up. He led on the morning round. Hagen returned brilliantly in the afternoon, but Compston emerged victor. Hagen defeated Compston six lip and five to play in the final thirty-six holes of the seventy-two hole match, which was completed here on the Westchester Biltmore course. Hagen finished brilliantly and avenged his previous defeat by Compston. CASTLECLIFF LADIES’ CLUB DRAW FOB TO-MORROW.
