CHAMPAGNE SHOTS
HOLED IN ONE! TWO WEEK-END FEATS. Yet two more members have been added to the list of those Who have qualified for membership of the Hole-in-One Club. The pair of new members were enrolled last week-end, one being a Belmont player and the other a recent recruit to the royal and ancient game, acknowledging allegiance to the Caetlecliff Club. Playing at Belmont E. H. Bernau, of the Wanganui Golf Club, holed out with his tee shot at ‘‘Terawhiti,” the 12th hole. This feat was equalled at the Caetlecliff links by C. I. Spillane, the well-known Rugby referee, who has only during the present season joined the ever-growing ranks of golfers. The raw recruit had better luck than many an old stager, real “novice’s luck,” rolling his pill into the cup at ‘Homestead,” the 15th hole on the seaside links. Both feats were suitably celebrated.
