WANGANUI ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui Hockey Association was held on Monday night, Mr R. L. Thompson presiding. There were also present Miss Heath, and Messrs Atkins, Le Brun, Tarr, Coddington, Saunders, Tizard, and Hartnell. The chairman welcomed Miss Saunders as representing the Hockey Referees’ Association. At the request of the Referees’ Association a general meeting of all hockey players is called for Monday, July 9, at 8 p.m. at the Y.M.C.A., at which meeting matters of interest to all hockey supporters will be discussed. Miss L. Kiff’s transfer from Old Girls A to Old Girls B was confirmed, as was also that of S. Stewart from Hinemoa to ‘Wesley. Representative Matches. It was decided to write to the Taihape Sub-Association to endeavuor to arrange representative matches for the ladies and men, to be held within the next month. The chairman intimated that Messrs Hughes Bros, had presented a cup to the Association. Byes were granted to all Wesley teams for July 14 to allow them to play the Feilding Wesley Club. Ladies* Competition. At the completion of the first round ladies teams arc to be divided into two grades, each playing one round. The first grade is to consist of the

first six teams in the championship, and the second to consist of the remaining four. The selectors are to be instructed to ascertain the possibilities of arranging for a men’s touring team for the Waikato and Auckland district. School Girls’ Hockey. The Association has decided to donate a cup for the school girls’ championship competition. The matter of the men’s junior representative team was held over till next meeting. plied with a list of referees available for the match. The referees submitted were Messrs J. S. King, W. H. Rowe, J. B. Rowe, J. Richardson and N. Reid. The date suggested for the Pownall Trophy match, September 15, was also approved of by Taihape. Wairoa Sub-Union. Wairoa Sub-Union’s request for a visit from the Metropolitan B team was granted. Unemployment Relief. Messrs R. J. Stevenson, C. H. Warden and E. V. Laws were appointed a sub-committee to confer with the City Engineer with regard to the expenditure of money collected through the Sub-Union for the relief of unemployment. the sub-committee to have power to act.

PRACTICE REMINDERS

PIRATE CLUB. A practice for all grades of the Pirate Club will be held in the training shed, Spriggens Park, to-night. It is essential that all members of the fifth grade attend at 6.30 •’harp. Duty coaches, Messrs Howes and Gibson. WANGANUI AND OLD BOYS’ CLUB AH members of the Wanganui and Old Boys Club arc reminded of tho practice to be held to-night.
