GENERAL NEWS A concert arranged by Miss V. Foote will be held in the Marton Town Hall on Tuesday, July 10, when the following will take part: Miss Naomi Whalley (soprano), Mrs William Wattets (baritone) and Miss Southcy-Baket (violiniste); MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL The Council met last evening, there being present: The Mayor (Mr F. Purnell) and Crs. R. J. Moore, J. Bush, G. B. Gregory, H. Y. Cameron, A. McKenzie, T. Barton, A .J. Sicely and J. D. Gofrie. The Junction School Committee wrote drawing the Council’s attention to the dangerous state of the bridge in Alexandra Street, near the school.—Attended to. Mr J. G. Blackwell, asked for a refund of £8 16s, being heavy traffic license fee paid last year on a Vehicle which was exempt from such fee, having been in his possession since June 30, 1925.—Agreed to. Mr S. Coleman wrote asking for a refund of heavy traffic license paid for the year 1928-29, as his lorry had been taken off the road. —Agreed to. Mr Still’s offer for removing trees at the abbatoir section was agreed to. Mr H. Wittendon’s tender for the abbatoir cottage was accepted. CRIBBAGE TOURNAMENT The following is the result of last night’s play: Druids 14, Club 11; Braeside 13, Railway 12; Foresters 14, Greatford 11. The draw for next Monday night is Braeside v. Druids; Club v. Greatford; Foresters v. Railway. The position of the teams is as follows: Club 6 wins, Foresters 5 wins, Greatford and Druids 4 wins each, Bracside 3 wins. Railway 2 wins.
