PERSONALLY SUPPORTED MESSAGES FROM MAYORS. Prior to ths address by Mr P. ,L O’Regan on rating on unimproved values at the Opera House last evening, the Mayor, Mr W. J. Rogers, read a telegram from the Mayor of Christchurch, the Rev. J. K. Archer, as follows:—“Personally support unimproved rating. It discourages land specula tion and ‘encourages building.” Other telegrams received reacl as follows: “Hope your efforts will be successful in endeavouring to retain the system of unimproved rating. Wish Mr O’Regan successful meeting.—W. J. Moffatt, Mayor of NeLson.” “Rating on unimproved values satisfactory. Never hear of any complaints.—D. W. Coleman, Mayor of Gisborne. ”
