JOYLAND DANCE [ Special " Chronicle Service J The joylaa:} birthday dance held in the Railway Social Hall was a very successful and most enjoyable function. The proceeds will be devoted to the Anglican car fund. Mr Pitkowsky was M.C. Tl-.c Vcnte Carlo dance attracted a great deal of attention and was won by Miss Morris and Mr H. Gould. Tho hidden treasure was found by Miss R. Ashley. ’RURAL INTERMEDIATE CREDIT’ BOARD There was a large gathering of farmers present at the meeting held in the Oddfellows Hall, when Mr A. S. Faire, district supervisor of the Rural Intermediate Credit Board addressed the meeting. It was carried unanimously that a committee consisting of Messrs Goldfinch, Fetzer, and Pearson, be appointed to arrange for the formation of an association and* that Ractihi farmers be invited to appoint one or more of their number to the committee, with a view to the formation of an association to embrace Ohakune and Ractihi districts. GENERAL NEWS There was a good attendance at the Plunket Rooms at the progressive 500 party, held in aid of the Catholic Church funds. Mrs H. Davis and Mr P. Walsh were the successful competitors. A dainty supper was served and a most enjoyable time spent. Mrs Harold Turner, a former resident of Ohakune has been on a visit to his sister Mrs Andrew Larsen. The Waimarino Silver Band has started practising “The Gondoliers,” which will be rendered at a concert to be held in the near future. “If the Labour Party is returned will it ensure a better quality of liquor coming into this district. At; present there is too much methylated spirit in it?” was a query put to Mr H-. T. Armstrong. M.P., on Monday after his address. Mr Armstrong replied that perhaps the questioner bad been unfortunate. He, the speaker, had. managed to strike a good sample. (Laugher)’
