The very romantic Balkans, where intrigue and love and life are always intermingled one with the other, is the scene of “The Last Waltz.” which will be shown at the Opera House to-night. The story was adapted front an operetta of the same name that was produced by the Shuberts in. New York in 1921.

The locale for “The Last Waltz” is the snow-clad St. Moritz, the most beautiful winter resort in all Europe. For many years, when winter comes, thousands of people make their pilgrimage to the beauties of the Swiss Alps for the winter sports. From all over the world the- guests stream to the sporting centre of the winter world. Carnivals are held almost nightly, and the most picturesque ice pageants are included in these carnivals.

The entire company of “The Last Waltz” was transported to St. Moritz, and ail of the outdoor action took place among the natural beauties of that lovely little town.

AH of the actors in the cast are from some country in the old world, and there are many countries represented. It is a delightful tale that is spun about a duke and his aide, and a Princess and her lady in waiting.

A Bulgarian girl. Elsie Vanya, who plays the part of the maid to the duchess, docs one of the prettiest bits of vamping that has ever been shown on any screen. In a scene with the station agent she manages to win him ever to flagging the train so that her mistress ’ lox er may make a hasty getaway. Miss Vanya is one of the cast that* is really the most international that has made any picture. The picture was directed by Arthur Robison, an American, and Charles A. Whittaker, an Englishman, supervised it. Liane Haid. who plays the princess, is very well known in Austria. In that country she is the outstanding female star, and has earned an enviable reputation for herself. A feature of tonight's bill will be an entr’acte by Misses Evelyn and Nola Wright, who will render “The Last Waltz” and other dances.
