MOTOR BOAT FANS
THE SPORT IN BRITAIN WEEK-END DIVERSION. LONDON, Juno 4. Young women in search or thrills arc among the most enthusiastic of the outboard motor-boat fans. This new sport is rapidly becoming popular in this country, and the only restriction upon it is the lack of lakes in and near Loudon. On any Sunday a dozen or more sporting girls, in berets and blazers, can be seen spinning round the Welsh Harp lake at Hendon. swinging their little craft round buoys, twisting and turning, and skinding at 30 miles-an-hour. It is a thrilling sight to see them skimming and buck-jumping across the mile long expanse of water. It is a particularly suitable sport for women, for they can get all the thrills of motor-cycling, motoring, of even flying, without the risks. And they are proving as expert as the men. They can handle ’heir craft as skilfully. They st tidy seaworthiness, the intricacies of engines. and how to tunc them up to the last ounce. This is truly a sport in which women should be able to compete successfully with men. There are laces for whole families.
