FARMERS PROTEST
CANTERBURY GRIEVANCE RESEARCH OFFICERS TO GO NORTH [ Per Press Association 1 CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. Protest was made at a meeting ol the North Canterbury Fanners Union to-day against the action of the Agricultural Department in transferring two of its senior officers, Messrs J. W. Hadfield and A. W. Hudson from. Christchurch to Palmerston North in spite of the assurance of the Director General of Agriculture that these officers would continue to initiate and supervise research work in Canterbury. Alembers expressed; grave doubts as to whether the officers would in fact do very much at Palmerston North to help agriculture in Canterbury. It was eventually resolved that the president and secretary be a committee with power to add, and that they inquire into the contemplated removal of Alessrs Hadfield and Hudson to Palmerston North and make an appropriate protest.
