FOUR MEN IN HOSPITAL MISHAP IN SOUTHLAND [ Per Press Association 1 INVERCARGILL, May 20. Four men were admitted to the Southland Hospital on Saturday night as the result of motor accidents. Albert Taylor and Michael Ross, who w r ere knocked down by a taxi, the former suffering from head injuries and Ross from facial abrasions and slight concussion, are reported to be progressing favourably, as is Leslie Stevens, who sustained slight concussion and cuts about the scalp through being ’knocked down by a car. Henry Rillston was admitted, suffering from a fractured leg and a cut across the forehead, but his condition is not serious. He is said to have been riding a motor cycle which collided with a car. INTO A DITCH CAB CAPSIZES OCCUPANTS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL [ Per Press Association, r GISBORNE, May 20. As tho result of a collision between two cars at Patutahi on Saturday evening, one car, driven by Francis Parker, a lorry driver, and containing also his wife and three children, went head first into a wide drain and fell >n its side, tho occupants being thrown out. Mrs Parker suffered broken ribs and chest and body bruises. Doris Parker (aged 11) had a wrist broken and suffered abrasions, and Jack Parker (aged 8) was cut about the legs. They were removed, but have no injuries believed to be serious. Parker also suffered bruises, but the occupants of the other car were not hurt. HURT BY CARS OPEN SEASON FOB CYCLISTS BOY SERIOUSLY INJURED [ Per Prcaa Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. Five accidents, in which people were injured, were reported to the police over the week-end. As a result of coming into collisoin with a motor car at Riccarton this morning, a cyclist, Oswald Benjamin Islip, aged 14, is in hospital with head and leg injuries, and is suffering from shock. His condition is reported to be very serious. Three other cyclists were injured, none severely, by bcintr struck by motor cars.
