ANAEMIA TESTS
RESULTS FROM LIVER DIET. Important results of tests made by the British Aicdical Research Council with a ncsw treatment for pernicious anaemia are to be made public in the near future. There results will, it is believed, confirm the hopes of medical men that an effective cure for this grave disease has been found. An official of the Aicdical Research Council said to a reporter: tests of the new treat ment Lave, been carried out in British hospitals for some time, and it is safe to say that the immediate results have been very encouraging. It remains to be seen, of course, whether the euro is permanent. 44 The mi hod, which consists of feeding the patients with liver was discovered hy Di Minot and Dr Murphy, of the farvard Medical School, and adapted by them and Dr Colin. One of our aims has been to discover n method of administering the. cure in palatable form, as some people would almost prefer to have the disease rather than eat half a pound of liver a day. “The liver can now be given in the form of an extract, awl it is very important that wo should have available all the data concerning the discovery so that, commercial iirnis may have Tca.-I.ly accessible all the information necessary to produce the extract tn the best possible form for use.” while the euro is primarily intended for pTuieious anaemia, experiments arc also being made to determine Its effect on other commoner forms of anaemia.
