An advance in t’»ie transmission of pictures by wire was made when, for thc first time, a motion picture was sent over the telephone wires to New York, for .display there. A close-up of of Vilnia Banky, the film star, was taken in the telephoto offices of the American Telephone and Telegraph Co., and within half an hour a perfect film, was developed and transmitted over the wire. T.nc film was cut in strips and sent as stills.
