DRASTIC PROPOSAL

SUBNORMAL CHILDREN CERTIFICATES FOR DESTRUCTION. (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, April 20. A startling suggestion was made by Mrs Albert Littlejohn, member of the New South Wales Committee of the Australian Federation of Women Workers, giving evidence before the Child Endowment Commission. She declared that infants who were subnormal at birth should be destroyed on a certificate from five doctors. Medical opinion, however, regards the proposal as unlikely to gain support in any civilised country, while legal commentators consider that the public mind is not rip« to accept such a drastic change which holds great possibilities of danger.
