SAFE STOLEN
REMOVED IN CAR BUSINESS PREMISES RAIDED. [ Per Press Association. J INVERCARGILL, April 19. Early this morning burglars broke into two business premises at Wyndham, and succeeded in making away with £4O. The firm concerned were Kerse and Co., and the garage of the United Trading Manufacturing Co. When Mr Kerse came down this morning he found the back door prised open, the office door smashed, and the office in the utmost confusion. The safe had been removed. Tyre marks outside the back door showed that a car was used to remove the safe which the thieves intended to break at their leisure. Mr Kerse stated that the safe contained £4O in cash. The United Trading Company was fortunate in losing only a few shillings. The company bank daily, and the thieves, presumably knowing this did not attempt to remove the safe. So far no arrest has been made, but the make of tyre is discernible from the wheel marks. The police are investigating.
