OHAKUNE

RUAPEHU RUGBY SUB-UNION [ Special ‘ Chronicle” Service. ] A special general meeting of the Rua pehu Rugby Sub-Union was held in the Kailway Social Hall recently there being present Messrs Thomson (chair), Blyth, Clement, Gawn, Plank. Barker, Heise, Snowball, Murphy, Mcßurney and Carroll (hon. secretary). In connection with Mr Clement’s notice of motion regarding the weight limit of third grade players, the secretary read correspondence from the Taumarunui Sub-Union on the matter, as the correspondence had a very material bearing ou the weight limit. Mr Clemett asked leave to withdraw his notice of motion. After discussion it was resolved to amend the classification interpretation on page 19 of the rules governing the R.R.S.U. to read as follows: “That the weight limit of third grade players be lOst. 71bs and the age limit under 18 years of age on May 1, and under 16 years of age on May 1 for fourth grade players.” Messrs Blyth, Plank, Fry, Haley, and Snowball were elected to form the classification committee for the ensuing season. Mr Murphy (Horopito) advised that Horopito were desirous of entering a junior team for competition and it was resolved to admit this club, subject to a list of their intending players being submitted. The secretary advised that it was probable that a strong referees’ association could be formed and it was decided to convene a meeting for tomorrow (Thursday) evening. All interested in the movement arc invited to be in attendance. Meeting of Management Committee At the termination of the special general meeting the management committee met when matters pertaining to the season were dealt with. It was decided that April 28 he the commencing day for competition games the competition to be played in the following order: Levin Cnp, Shield Competition and Charity Cup. The fixture committee, comprising Messrs Blyth, Clemett and Carroll was set up to draw fixtures for all games after the first round. Fixtures. The first round of the competition to be played on April 28 was then drawn and resulted as follows: Seniors: United v. Junction at Raetihi (showgrounds) 3 p.m.; Ohakune v. Raetihi, at Ohakune, 3 p.m. Juniors.—Junction v. United, at Junction, 3 p.m'.; Athletic v. Ohakune, at Rangataua. 3 p.m.; Raetihi v. Horopito. at Raetihi (Rec.) 3 p.m. Thirds.—Raetihi v. United, at Raetihi (showground), 1.30 p.m.: Ohakune v. Athletic, at Ohakune, 1.30 p.m.
