PLUNKET APPEAL [ Special “Chronicle” Service. ] The secretary of the local branch of the Pluukct {Society (Airs A. G. Sinipi son) has received the following lists in I connection with the recent appeal. Only small amounts were asked for.

ANGLICAN SHOP A most succesful shop was held on Tuesday by the ladies of the Anglican Church in aid of the motor car fund. Those in charge were Alesdames G. A. Watt, H. Fox, H. Merton, and Miss Lawson. The competitions resulted as follows: /Sponge sandwich (decorated). —Afiss Marjorie Howie. Fruit Cake.—Airs J. Howie. The takings amounted to £33 14s 9d and expenditure to about £7. PERSONAL Airs W. J. Knight is on a visit to II uni ervillc. Air and Mrs C. Ellis returned home on Wednesday after a tour of the South Air E. the new stationmaster, with Airs Simons and family arrived in Huntervillc on Wednesday. Aiiss Pattrick, Director of Plunket Nursing in New Zealand, w r ill visit Huntervillc shortly. She will be accompanied by Airs AlacDiarmid, of Taihape. RATA DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB On Saturday Rata Rifle Club fired for the Rhodes-Bryce Cup over 500

EUCHBE PARTY AND DANCE Rata School Committee held a euchre party on Tuesday when first prizes were won by Airs N. Signal and Afr 11. Down. Consolations were awarded to Aiiss E. Down and Mr L. Blackler. A dance was held afterwards when Afr T. Hartley supplied, the music and Air G. Harvey acted as M.C. The eonrnittee netted £22 last season from these parties. BOWLING A ferns match on Wednesday resulted.—Poth crick, Afc Alley, Stevens, Porter (holders) 21 v. J. Wilson, Paul, Chisholm, Ansley 19 (challengers). GENERAL NEWS A motor collision occurred at Lewistown on Tuesday between cars driven by Air Arthur Vfheclerr. of Leedstown, and Air F. Al. Rickman, of Marton. No one was hurt, but both cars were severely ♦damaged. It is probable a meeting of ratepayers will bo called shortly to discuss ti.e propsed new Town Hall. Anyone knowing the adress of old pupils of Huntervillc school are asked to notify Alessrs D. D. Simpson, A. Bull. R. A. Gordon or L. J. Thompson. It is rumoured that there is likely to be competition for seats on the local school committee at the election on April 23. It is certainly about time more interest was taken in this annual event.
