Mrs and Miss Collins, who have been the guests of Mrs Harding. “Lagoon Hill,” Martinborough, have returned to Wanganui. Mrs and Miss E. Craig are visiting Wellington. Mrs R. W. Orton returned from Wellington last weekMrs Edwards, of Napier, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs C. Miles, St. Hill Street, has returned to her home.

Mrs R. C. Earle has gone to Wellington and is staying at Astor Flats, Hobson Street.

Mrs Vaughan Macdonald is the guest her daughter, Mrs A. Hatrick, >StJohn’s Hill. Mr and Mrs H. Royle. who were visiting Wanganui for the Clay-Frost wedding, have returned to Wellington.

Mrs E. C- Wilford, Wicksteed Street, is staying in Bulls as the guest of Mrs Horace Wilson, “Rotowhero. ”

Mr and Mrs Sydney Warburton left Auckland by the liner “Aorangi’’ yesterday en route to England. Miss K. Hatrick has returned from Christchurch, where she was the guest of Mrs Kcbbel Archer. Mrs H. D. Robertson has returned from Wellington.

The friends of Miss M. Newcombe will be pleased to hear that she is now out of hospital and is the guest of Miss E. Taylor, Campbell StreetMrs Walter Stewart gave a lurge party on Saturday night to farewell Mr and Mrs J. Armstrong Neame, who leave for England this week.

Mrs D- Watson, who has been the guest of her mother, M-s J. C. Patterson, has returned to Auckland. Mrs Lilburn, St. John’s Hill, has gone to Taumaranui and is the guest of Mrs Steel.

Lady Parr, wife of the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, has written an article in the Manchester Guardian upon Sir Truby King’s child welfare work both in and out of New Zealand. Last Thursday afternoon Mrs A. Russell and Mrs P. Forlong entertained some friends at tea at the D.I.C. in honour of Mrs Boddington, who is the guest of Mrs Jack Peac. Amongst those present were; Mrs E. Furlong, Mrs J. Peat, Mr- C- Miles, Mrs J. Craig, Mrs W. Peat. Mrs Brettargh, Miss Brettargh and Miss Hall-Jones.

Last Friday Mrs W. Peat gave a delightful party at her residence, St. John’s Hill, to celebrate her son

David’s first birthday. The rooms were artistically decorated with bowls of dahlias and belladonna lilies. The children spent a most enjoyable time and to their delight were each presented with balloons, crackers, and squeakers. Mrs Peat received her guests wearing a becoming frock of black and white georgette- Amongst those present were: Mrs R. Beauchamp, Mrs A. Russell, Mrs Vaughan Macdonald, Mrs H. Bailey, Mrs A. Hatrick. Mrs Brodie, Mrs Scannell, Mrs Haworth. Mrs L. Hammond, Mrs C. Miles Mrs Higgie, Mrs Franklin. Mrs Barstow, Mrs F. Moore, Miss H. Birch and her small niece.

Mrs Boddington, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs Jack Peat. The official opening of the Wanganui Golf Links was held at Belmont on Saturday, when mixed foursomes were played. Although the weather was distinctly discouraging there was a very good attendance. Mr and Mrs Meldrum arc to be congratulated in returning the very fine score of 3 up, considering the state of th® weather. Mr Harold and Miss P. Wall were runners-up with a close score of 2 up. Amongst those playing were: Mesdames Earle, A. Wilson, U. Williams, I. Saunders, R. Grumitt, W. C. Christie, EForlong, R. Orton, N. Armstrong, Ji. Bailey, Moore Hunter, B. C. Smith, Misses M. Blythe, L. Lilburn, V. Bailey, and N. Murray and Messrs. M. Earle, I. Saunders, A. Russell, J- Goss, L. B. Rhodes, U. Williams, A. Wilson, H. Franklin and J. Harold.
