AMERICAN STEEL TRADE LAST YEAR S DEPRESSION Received March 19. 8.50 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK, March 18. The annual reports of the United States Bethlehem Steel Corporation indicated the severity of the depression in the steel industry during 1927, when the value of the total sales of United States steel fell nearly 200,000,000 dolshort of the 1926 figure. Stockholders received eight dollars 80 cents, per common share, compared with 17.99 in 1926. The net income fell from 134,837,958 dollars to the present 105,418.368 dollars. The Bethlehem company gave five dollars two cents, per share compared with 7.48 in 1926. Their sales totalled 271.502.891 dollars, compared with £04,361,805 dollars the previous year.
