SONG OF SOLACE.

There is joy that is born of the sunlight, radiant as flowers in spring; and brief, alas! as bird-flight, on swiftlysoaring wing. Joy that to Youth is mated, ere time has taught us tears; ere the glimpse of clouds ill-fated, has summoned alien fears. * * * * There is joy that is born of the rainbow, when Youth has sped its way; when the glittering, golden sunglow has had its little day. Joy of the dawning morrow, when the night has been dark and long; when we’ve slept on the heart of sorrow, and awakened to hope’s sweet song.
