SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS Sweeping Charges Against Coal Owners NEW SOUTH WALES SCANDAL (By Telegiaph—Per Press Assn. —Copyright.) Received March, 1, 11.20 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, March 1. Mr Hoarc, addressing the coal conference now sitting to inquire into questions concerning the coal industry and to make suggestions for its improvement demanded a Royal Commission to inquire into further sweeping chaigcs which he made against the coal owners. He chaiged them with making payments to the secret service fund not shown in the books, with heavy over charges to foreign coal buyers, resulting in loss of export trade. He also charged them with illegally evading the Federal Act which lixed the price of coal, and various other charges were made which he claimed were factors in bringing about the depressed condition of the coal trade. Mr Hoarc said hep roposed to show that many owners were evading the law and getting rich quick by manipulating the companies’ books, cheques aniJ, bank books.
