TO STOP STATIC AND FADING

3LOS BIG TESTS. Listeners are co-operating wholeheartedly with 3LO in the tests being conducted to locate static and fading causes, and, if possible, eliminate them. Already much valuable information has been collated by listeners on the special form provided, and all -wireless enthusiasts are confident that the tests will prove of immense value. The tests began on February 14, and will conclude on March 8. They consist of transmissions from 3LO Melbourne on 371 metres at 11.40 p.m. on the dates set down. Each test is of about ten minutes’ duration, and consists of the reading of a passage.

Listeners are literally burning the midnight oil to note the results of the tests. Static and fading in their varying shades, —weak, medium or extensive—are systematically recorded. At the conclusion of the tests the, forms will be returned to 3LO, and the’ information they give used to eliminate the two main wireless faults. The concluding series of tests will be made on February 28, March 1, 6 and 8.
