HUNTERVILLE
CRICKET. On Wednesday afternoon Broadway journeyed to Hunterville to engage the home team in a competition match. The weather was fine at the commencement but became overcast about 3.30. HoWevJr, the rain held off and the game was played out on a good but rather slow wicket.' HiintervlUo were without Mowbray, Coleman and their captain, Reg. Aferwpod, and are to be congratulated on winning a very interesting game. With Broadway having scored 66, mainly through A. Smith, whd played a rattling innings for 42, Huntorville had eight wickets down for 39, but G. Adkins, with Porter, took the score from 39 to 70 before Adkins was well stumped by Smith. Towers, the last man in, was also stumped after making a beautiful stroke for four. A. W. Porter carried his bat for 34, Huntcrville winning by 10 firns. The following are the details:— Broadway. Owing to the inclement Weather the Hunterville Afiniature Rifle Club did not shoot off the third round of the scratch competition last week. Rata Defence Club. The Rata Club shot off their competition for C. Gower’s spoon, for 500 fl nd 600 yards with the following results. —A. J. AlcDonald 40, 42 (8), 9(l* M. Gray 41, 40 (7), 88; H. H. H. Rhodes’ spoon at 800 and 900 yards. BOWLING. Owing to the bowling green being flooded nearly a foot deep on Monday afternoon the competitions which wefo to have started on Wednesday have been postponed until Wednesday next, December 7.
