CONSTABLE’S DEATH A PISTOL EXPLOSION £A. & NX.) CANBERRA, Nov. 8. According to information received from the Home Territories Department regarding the death of Constable Clapp, it was stated that Clapp was arresting a man on a charge of supplying liquor to a half-caste. He took a pistol from him and stuck it in his own belt. As he did so it exploded, and the bullet pierced an artery in the constable’s own leg. He died in a few minutes. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned.
