LAVISH ENTERTAINER

LONDON’S LORD MAYOR SUPPER TO CORPORATION WORKERS. (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, Nov. 6. Charwomen, street sweepers, market cleaners, grave diggers, dustmen, sewermen, and barge trimmers were guests at supper at the historic Guildhall, when the Lord Mayor, Sir Rowland Blades, for the first time on record, entertained 850 corporation workers. The ceremonial was exactly as when monarchs and statesmen are entertained.

It is computed that Sir Rowland Blades has spent £20,000 personally in his year of office, over his offieail allowance of £lO,OOO for expenses.
