GELIGNITE EXPLOSION

THE AUCKLAND FATALITY ACCIDENT ON DRAINAGE WORKS. [Par Pres* Association.) ' AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. A verdict of accidental death was returned by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the inquest concerning the death of George Hamilton McMahon, of Morningside, who died in the Auckland Hospital as the result of injuries received in a premature explosion of gelignite, i Deceased had been employed by the Mount Albert Borough Council and was engaged in a tunnel. He was working an electric drilling machine and boring rock in preparation for blasting, when the explosion occurred.

J. Newton, Government inspector said, he was satisfied that the men engaged in boring were competent, and that the cause of the fatality was a premature explosion of gelignite.
