FALCON ISLAND ERUPTS WARSHIP’S OBSERVATIONS (Par Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. H.M.S. Laburnum, which arrival last, night reports that Falcon Island, when seen .from, the sloop a fortnight ago. was well above the water, belching out great columns of steam and lava to a height of 3.000 feet, playing for about a minute at 20 mintite intervals. While under observation from the Laburnum on October 4 to 7 the island was found to be approximately 1730 yards long north and south and J-130 yards broad oast ana west. The sides sloped up gradually to the edges of the crater which was 305 feet above the water level.
