AT ALEXANDRA PARK AUCKLAND SPRING MEETING OPENS. MACHINE GUN’S BIG HANDICAP. DERBY TO DAPHNE DE ORO (Per Press Association.) AUCKKVND, Oct. 15. The spring meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club opened at Alexandra Park to-day in showery weather. In spite of heavy rain overnight the course was in fairly good order but the attendance was not good. Totalisator receipts for the day totalled £43,050 10s, compared with £53,843 on the corresponding day of last year, a decrease of £10,792 10s. Results:— Waitemata Trot Handicap.—7 Floralinc 1, 9 Bluewood 2, 6 Appeal 3. Also: 11 Chcsscy, Il Carbcrlcy, 4 Red Dennis, 5 Royal Bob, 3 Caterpillar, 10 Roma Bingen, 2 Gold Star, 1 liaima, 8 Anseline. Length and a-half; eight. Timo 3.34 1-5. Improvers’ Handicap.—2 Amaris 1, 3 Goldman 2, 9 Beatty 3. Also: 13 Wrigley, 12 Logan Rothschild, 11 Kingsclere, 10 Delavan Bill, 7 Van Rich, 5 Festive Morn, 8 Buz Buz, .1 Lu van, 4 Bob Logan, 6 Cute Lad. Length and a-half; half a length. Time 3.30. Spring Handicap. (100 sovs.; Two miles). 4—MACHINE GUN, R. B. Berry . 1 I—-TOM THUMB, F. Holmes .... 2 >-TALA RO, 11. Holmes 3 Also: 7 Jewel Pointer, 3 Cloncliffc, 5 Talent, 2 Imprint, 6 Ahuriri. Tom Thumb showed the way over almost the whole distance. At the end of the first round he was followed by Jewel Pointer, Talent, Machine Gun and Talaro. Machine Gun w-as never far away and at the turn for home was third to Tom Thumb and Jewel Pomtf r. In a great finish Machine Gun won by threcquarters of a length. Talaro was half a length away, third, and Jewel Pointer was fourth. Tune 4.39 3-5.

Holmes 3 Also: 1 Harvest Child (bracketed with Daphne De Oro and Donard, 7 Free Advice, 5 Nclla Dillon, 8 Reality, 6 Queen Elizabeth, 2 Vestas. Free Advice took charge from Monopole, Vestas and Harvest Child at the end of the first round and held that position into the straight in the final furlong. His closest attendants at the turn wore Monopole, Daphne de Oro and Harvest Child. Free Advice broke about 100 yards from the post and Daphne de Oro went on to win by threcquarters of a length from Monopole, with Donard a length away, third. Queen Elizabeth was fourth. Time 3.34 2-5. Stewards* Handicap.—.l The Shrew 1, 4 Uncle Bert 2, 8 Reliance 3. Also: 2 Bcremai, 12 Ursuline, 11 Buz Buz, 13 Van Rich, 14 Concertina, 5 Amaris, 10 Trampfast, 3 Marshal Neil, 7 William the Great, 6 Waliroon, 9 Dick Dillon. Half a length; nose. Time 4.42 3-5.
October Handicap. —B All Bell 1, 1 Sea Pearl 2, 3 Jewel Pointer 3. Also: 7 Ben Lomond, 4 Lady Dunmore, 6 Anti ehu, 5 5 Black Lila, 2 Talaro. Ben Lomond showed out curly but All Bell soon ran to the front and maintained the lead to the post without further trouble, winning by a head, with third horse a neck away. Time 2.16 4-5.
Mountain Trot Handicap.— ’ Young Blake 1, 4 Trampfast 2, 1 Betty Moko 3. Also: 9 Wild Lad, 8 Ngatira, 2 Sister Beatrice, 7 Tradesman, 3 The Tartar, 11 Peter McKinney, 10 Peter Dean, 6 Waikaha. Sister Beatrice ran to the front when the field had settled down and led past the stand on the second round from Tradesman, Young Blake, Trampfast. Young Blake was racing in fine style and took second place going along the top. At the distance he took the lead to win a fine race by a length, with threcquarters of a length between second and third. Time 4.42. Electric Handicap.—2 Nelson Tasker 1, 10 Rockburn 2, 12 Rua Pore 3. Also: 13 Oliver Thorpe, 6 Direct Morning, 10 Rockburn, 8 Lord Nepcan, 1 Stanmoor, 3 Bob Logan, 9 Wood vale, 11 Pitaroa, 5 Hughie Wallace, 4 Goldman, 7 Holly Boy. Nelson Tasker took the lead with three furlongs to go and won by a neck, with two lengths between second and third. Timo 2.52 2-5.
