HUNTERVILLE
FRONT TF.RSTvTEN On Thursday night, the Hunterville troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen held their monthly euchre tonrna.ment. There were 46 present, the smallest attendance at the Frontiersmen’s tournaments to date. Beside counter attractions, the weather would probably keep a good few away. The next tournament was announced for November 12. The successful contestants for the prizes were Mrs Harry Fox and Mr S. Frampton. The ladies’ consolation went to Miss M. Whyte and the men’s consolation to Mr W. Smith. Supper was dispensed by Mesdames Paul and Williams. DOMAIN IMPROVEMENTS The high hedge along the bottom end of Domain has been cut down and trimmed aud is a great improvement, allowing tho sun to get at me lower end two hours earlier. It is now going to be top-dressed and the hollows tilled up and sown with grass seed, which should do away with ihe boggy patches that are seen during the football season. At the present moment the domain is looking better than it has ever done before, and the cricket pitch is about the fastest in Bangitikei. TOWN BEAUTIFYING The sections on which the memorial and rest room stand are now a credit to the town, with the ornamental fence i and flowering shrubs and flowers plant cd, whereas it used to look like a bit of waste land with an obelisk and a house stuck on it. AT THE PICTURES “The Man on the Box,” featuring Syd. Chaplin, will be shown at *he Argyle Hall on Wednesday.
