At Winnipeg, addressing huge crowds from a window of Parliament Buildings before entraining for the east, the Rt. Hon. S. M. Baldwin (Prime Minister of Britain) denied that signs of decadence 'were appearing in Britain. “What we feel at Home,” he said, “and what I think must be more difficult for you to realise than it is fur us, is that on us mainly—on people speaking the English tongue, people of British stock—rests the greatest hope for world peace and continued peace. Peace is a vital necessity for the world, and for no pait of the W'orld is it more vital than for the Empire. All we want to do is to develop ourselves and out countries in peace —that will be our great contribution to the world.”
