Otago University, the premier club in the Dunedin championship series, played Christchurch Club, winners of the Christchurch Championship this season, on Saturday in the annual match for the Payne Trophy. The match was witnessed by 10,000 people. The visitors had the better speed, rather better condition and better com bination and won handsomely by 13 points to 3, three tries, two of which were converted, to on* unconverted try.
