Ashburton Trotting Club's Winter meeting was held in dull, raw weather, rain threatening. There was a very large attendance. The totalizator handled £18,586, against £18,920 last vear. Washington) 3 Also: 7 Milo Minto, 1 Vestas, 6 Direct Red, 3 Monopoly, 4 Sonoma. Coming into te straight Enawah was leading from Daphne de Oro, with Harvest Child on the outside. Harvest Child challenged strongly but Enawah went on to win by a length, with Daphne de Oro eight lengths back Time: 3213. Acton Handicap. —1 Great Actress 1, 15 Huon Denver 2. 9 Panto 3. Length; three lengths. Time: 3.28 4-5. Stewards * Handicap.—3 Silurian 1, 1 Sarsparilla 2. 7 Nourmahai 3. Sarsaparilla was leading half a furlong from home but broke. Silurian won by a length; eight lengths. Time: 4.55. Winter Handicap.—6 Trimmer 1, 12 Author Jinks 2, 1 Bob Logan 3. Length; three lengths. Time: 2min. 17sec.
