RANDWICK MEETING SURPRISE IN A.J.C. STEEPLES WHITE FANG WINS THE FLYING Received June 12. 12.55 p.m. SYDNEY, June 12. The weather was fine for the Randwick races. The results were as follows: Flying Handicap.—White Fang 8.5 1. Mapiaff 7.4 and Ariedon 7.2 (deaid heat) 2. Nine started. The winner went tn the front early and led all the way. winning easily by five lengths. Time 1.11. A.J.C. Steeplechase. (Of 2000 sovs: 3 miles). GULYARRI. 9.12 1 MENDIT. 9.2 .. 2 POMPENE, 9.4 3 Ten started. Nyangay made the early running, but was soon displaced by Minterne. who led the field the second time round. Then Mendit took charge and lei over the Last fence from Nyangay. Gulyarri and Pompene appeared to have the race won, but ran wide at the half-distance and Gulyarri and Pompene, finishing fast, changed onder. the first-named winning by a length. Time 6.28. Gulyarri’s win was a great surprise tfnd he was the rank outsider. Winter Stakes. —Johnnie Jones 8.8 and Freddie C. 7.12 (dead heat) 1, Coolgong 8.10 3. Twcnle started. Two lengths. Time 2.51. Exeter Handicap. —Triplex 8.11 1. Lovebox 8.1 2. The Thorn 9.1 3. Nineteen started, inclixiing Fool’s Paradise, Reonui and Giggle. A great finish resulted tn The Thom finishing half a length behind the dead-heaters. Time
