A GYMNASTIC DISPLAY

WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT BAVARIAN BISHOPS’ BAN. Received Juno 3, 9 p.m. (-A--P-A.-Sun) BERLIN, June 2. The Bavarian Roman Catholic bishops have created a sensation by forbidding Catholic women to participate in a gymnastic tournament organised at Neuberg in July. The edict is based on the decision of the German Episcopate forbidding women’s participation in public gymnastic competitions, swimming tournaments and other sports.

The edict wag read in the churches and the priests were enjoined to restrain the women and girls under their jurisdiction.
