CRUTCHINGS AND ODDMENTS
SALE AT CHRISTCHURCH. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 19. A sale of crutchings and oddments was held to-day. The catalogue totalled 867 bales. There were only a few lots of fleece wool offered, though lambs’ wool figured to some extent. A good bench of buyers attended and there was a free disposa Ithroughout for all classes. Local mills and fellmongers and Home firms were all in the competition, and the fact that the total passings numbered no more than 40 bales indicated that prices were on the better side of the brokers’ valuations.
The best price of the sale was 21Jd for two bales of Merino ewe. Two bales of Corriedalc sold at 18Jd, and a bale of halfbred at 181 d. Crutchings made up to HJd, the average being from 8d to 10d, and fine pieces up to 14Jd, the average for this class being from Hid to 13d. Top price for lambs’ wool was 15Jd.
