WANGANUI SALE. Johnston and Co., Ltd., report that the monthly sale of skins, hides and tallow was held at Wanganui on Wednesday to a good bench of buyers. Keen competition was maintained throughout, and the prices obtained were in advanace of those ruling in the previous sale. Tallow was in good demand at late rates. The range of prices is as follows

Sheepskins.—Fine crossbreds, lid to ll}d; medium to coarse crossbred, 10Ji to 10fd; short to half wools, 91d to lOJd; lambs, 9Jd to lid; dead and damaged crossbreds, G|d to 7Jd; inferior and badly damaged, 4d to 7d; pelts, 4|d to 6|d; damp, salted and green, 3s 7d tQ 8s 3d; lambs, 3s to 5s Bd. Hides.—Ox, medium, 7d; cow, heavy, B|d; cow, medium, 7Jd to 8 l-8d; cow, light, 7}d to 8 l-8d; cut, slippy and inferior, 3d to 6d; bull, stag, 2d to 3d; yearlings, 6Jd to Bsd; calf, superior, 12jd; calf, medium to good, 9Jd; calf, damaged, s|d to 7d. Tallow. —In tins, 21s to 22s 6d. Sundries —Horse hair, 21 Jd; cow tails 17Jd. RABBITSKINS. GOOD PRICES AT WELLINGTON. (Special to “Chronicle.”) WELLINGTON, May 19. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report that a large catalogue of rabbitskins was offered at their sale to-day, before a full bench of Dunedin and local buyers. “Of the total catalogue we offered 75 per cent.,” says the report, “and our lots met very keen competition, showing a big increase on last sale, the prices realised being slightly better than those ruling at last Dunedin sale.” For winters 129|d was recorded, which must be taken as an excellent prospect for future sales. Some of the prices obtained were:—Runners, suckers to 30d; light racks 44d to 46Jd; summers 31|d to 33Jd; heavy racks 42Jd to 46d; dawny autumns 51Jd to 52Jd; autumns 56Jd to 78Jd; early autumns 68d to 69Jd; late autumns 77d to 91Jd; incoming winters 104 d to 108 d; early winter bucks 114|d to 120 d; early winter does 106 d; first bucks 129dJ; first does 106£d; spotted winters 96.}d; summer blacks 38Jd; autumn black 68Jd to 85d; incoming blacks 99d; early winter blacks 102 d; winter blacks IlOJd; hareskins 36d to 39d.
