Mr A. R. Tarr, of Wanganui, has been visiting Dunedin. Mr C. C. Miles, of Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Dunedin, has been appointed manager of the firm’s branch at Wanganui. Miss A. F. B. Mackay, of the Dunedin telephone exchange, will join the, Wanganui staff as toll operator at the end of the present month. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr W. Craig, a former chairman of the Wanganui County Council, was passed by members of that body yesterday. Mr A. G. Bignell was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Wanganui Harbour Board last evening. Mr William Morrison was elected deputy (ffiairman. Arrivals at Foster’s Hotel are Messrs S. Fagan, H. W. Moss, J. AV. Brodie, Mr and Mrs G. Mitchinson (Wellington), Messrs F. L. Diddams, H. S. Beard (Auckland), and Mr J. Bull (Hunterville), At the Rutland Hotel are Mr N. C. Blackburne (Te Horo), Mr J. C. Cruickshank (New Plymouth), Mr E. Samuels (Auckland), Miss Duncan, Mrs Cleland, Messrs J. Hcssell, W. J. Smyth (Wellington), and Mr and Mrs Goode (Christchurch). Mr J. Drake, accountant at the Gisborne Post Office, has been appointed to fill the vacancy at the Wanganui office caused by the promotion of Mr A. AV. Morris to a similar position in Dunedin. Prior to his departure for the south Air Morris was accorded a farewell by his fellow members of the local staff, who presented him with a handsome travelling rug.
