HOCKEY

TO-DAY’S GAMES PROSPECTS DISCUSSED. The big match to-day should be tho meeting of Hinemoa and St. Andrew’s at Gonville Park. The Saints gave most hockey enthusiasts a big surprise when they scored their big win over Wesley la'st week. Hinemoa are out to serve a big defeat on their opponents to-day and so uphold their reputation as champion team. On last week’s form the writer would opine that Hinemoa will provide a defence that will need a strong attack to penetrate. In the forward line experienced men are playing, but a fast game may see them "blowing.” The St. Andrew’s defence is weak and this may let them down. Their halves and forwards, however, arc fast and nippy and in this respect may have a slight advantage over their opponents.

Summing up, there seems to be a balance of evidence in favour of Hinemoa’s winning, but the maroons may prove themselves no easy victims. The other senior game is provided by the meeting of Old Boys and Wesley at Peat Park. This should be a good game with the chances somewhat in favour of the Old Boys winning. Wesley have a stout defence but their attacking powers are weak and in this respect they are decidedly handicapped as it allows the opposing halfback line to concentrate on feeding the forwards while the backs are able to deal with any attack made. However, the Old Boys’ forwards will need to work together better if they are to score often as in Thrush and Goring the blacks have a pair of backs who will not be- easily passed.

The ladies’ games contain no star attraction though interest will doubtless be shown in the meeting of Aramoho and Wesley A. Last week the suburban girls easily accounted for Old Girls B and it will, be interesting to see how they fare against the strong Wesley team. Of the remaining ladies’ games Tiki should be able to account for Old Girls B, while Wesley B should go under to Old Girls A. TIKI CLUB TEAMS FOR TO-DAY The following will represent Tiki A v.
