One of the latest incidents in the Yangtsze region is the attack which was made yesterday near Chinkiang on the British gunboat Cockchafer. SAILORS ATTACKED IN STREET A Shanghai message states that two British bluejackets gave two rickshaw coolies more than double the legal fare, but the coolies demanded more. When the sailors refused the coolies attacked them, others joining in and one sailor being stabbed The Chinese police, instead of assisting the sailors, carried them off to the police station, whence they were escorted to their ship. None of the coolies was arrested.
