MORE MEN IDLE COMPULSORY CONFERENCE SUGGESTED. Received March 9, 5.5 pmu SYDNEY, March 9. The trouble over deputies on the Maitland coalfield remains unsettled and more mines have been rendered idle. There are now over 9000 unemployed. The matter was referred to in the Assembly and suggestions made to call a compulsory conference and insist upon the Mines Act being fully Carried out. The Premier (the Hon. J. T. Lang) promised consideration.
