APPEAL TO BURGLAS.
WOMAN’S MIDNIGHT SCARE A MASKED INTRUDER. LONDON, March 7. “We are here together in the sight of God. I appeal to you to go. Go quietly. My aunt’s life is in your hands. Her heart is weak, and the shock will kill her,” was Miss Norah Upton’s appeal to a masked burglar who entered her bedroom at midnight, demanding money. Miss Upton added: “You have come to the wrong house. My aunt is a widow. Her sons were killed in the war. You are better off than us.” The burglar promised to go if Miss Upton did not give an alarm, and left, carrying off a suitcase and a small sum of money.
