HIGH PRICES AT MELBOURNE MELBOURNE, March 9. At the wool sales, under general competition, high prices prevailed for the finer qualities, 44Jd being realised. SALES AT SYDNEY. Received March 9. 10.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 9. At the wool sales, under a strong Continental and Japanese demand, ail wool of good quality was very firm at lia.te rates. Other sorts are a shade weaker. Greasy merino touched 38$d. LONDON SALES. Messrs Murray. Roberts and Co., Ltd., arc in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents dated March B:—The undermentioned vessels have arrived in time for the consignments of wool by them to be offered in next scries of London sales, opening on March 15: Arawa, Gallic, Mataroa, Mamari, Tainui, Port Melbourne, Ruahine. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house dated March 7: —The list of arrivals for the next London wool sales closed to-day. The quantity available is Australian 66,500 bales, Cape 2000 bales, New Zealand 42,500 bales, South America 18,600 bales, carry forward 25,000 bales.
