BOOK TAMPERED WITH MONEY FOR “KNOCKING ABOUT” AND DRINKS. [ Per Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, March 7. Frederick Ray Humphrey, aged 28, pleaded guilty at the Police Court to stealing £4BO from his employers, A. B. AVright and Sons. Ltd. 'Accused’s method was to make additional entries in. receipt book after it had been stanipby the official who received the amount. The thefts extended from July JO, 1925, to February 21, 1927. Accused in his statement to the police said that his wife left him on May 19. 1925. She returned later but again left him in December, 1926. ’ The tolcn money was spent in “knocking bout,” having a few drinks, and lending money to friends. His wife took all the furniture from tho house ami all ho had now was 14s fid. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
