Uycle club. [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] The following handicaps have been declared for the cycling events at the evening meeting to-morrow on the Marton Park:—

BOWLING CLUB. The following players will represent the Bowling Club in Shield and Club games against Bulls on the Marton green to-morrow:— Shield Games.—Hunter (sk.), Atkinson, Purnell, Newman; Duncan (sk.), Duck, Humer, Marr. Club games.—L. Wilson (sk.), Smart, Mogridge, L. G. Morris; Shine (sk.), Morrison, Greaves, and Death; Upchurch (sk.), Ferens, Gronn, B. H. Morris. Players are asked to bring a basket. “GBAUSTARK.” ‘ ‘ Grau stark, ” George Barr McCutcheon’s romance of a mythical European kingdom, has been modernised for the screen. Norma Talmadge enacts the role of the Princess Yetive, with Eugene O’Brien as her leading man. First National will present the picture at the Marton Town Hall tomorrow evening. The box plan is at Mogridge’s. MARTON POST AND TELEGRAPH PICNIC The staff of the Marton Post and Telegraph Office held a very enjoyable picnic at Kagariki on Sunday. There was a good attendance and a number of athletic events was held during the afternoon. Messrs A. E. S. Crozier and R. T. Thom acted as handicappers and were assisted in conducting the sports by Messrs E. M. Butler, F. J. Shapleski and A. Hutton. The committee wish to thank the many business firms who gave trophies. GENERAL AND PERSONAL Mr Alfred Saunders, a resident of Marton, had the fingers of one of his hands crushed last week through being caught in a threshing machine on Mr Oldfield’s farm. Owig to the steering gear failing to act the Marton Fire Brigade engine, which was out on a trial spin, jumped the kerbing in Tallet Street on Satuiday evening and buried the radiator in the hedge of the Marton Park. The front axle and wheels were considerably damaged. Miss Stedman has returned to Marton from a trip to the Old Country.
