BROADCASTING FROM WELLINGTON
LISTENERS-IN DISAPPOINTED. Wireless enthusiasts in Wanganui are very disappoint»ed owing to the fact that the Wellington broadcasting station is too weak to send out the band contest for reception anywhere outside a 50-mile radius from the Empire City. For some time past licensed broadcast receivers have complained about the weak output of the Wellington station 2 YK and promises have been made for a new high-powered station to be opened in Wellington in April, but on present indications it will not be broadcasting for many months. One of the features of the broadcast programmes of 4 Y.A, Dunedin, last year, was the band contest held at the Exhibition, and according to the letters received there must have been some thousands tuning into the Dunedin station night after night. The same will be the case to-night, when the hymn test will bo a feature at the contest, but listeners-in will tune in in vain in attempts to hear the Wellington station.
