Twenty-eight men and women, convicted of assault on Abbe Desnoyers, of Bombon, who was stripped and flogged by a number of persons from Bordeaux who accused him of wizardy, were sentenced respectively to eight and six months’ imprisonment and fined 100* francs and ordered to pay Abbe Desnoyers 500,000 francs damages. The accused, pleaded that they acted legitimately in defence against the forces of Satan.
