CUSTOMS REVENUE
PORT OF WANGANUI LAST YEAR’S FIGURES. Interesting comparisons are given in the returns of Customs duty collected at the port of Wanganui during 1925 and 1926. Decreases on the sums for 1925 are. shown in both Customs duty and beer duty for 1926. Following are tables showing the quarterly returns for the two years:—
Amounts for the month of December in both years are:— 1925. 1926. £ £ Customs Duty .. 12,216 8 7 10,446 2 5 Beer Duty 763 6 9 383 19 2 In 1926, the month in which most revenue from Customs duty was obtained was August, the figures being £14,314 18s 2d, and for beer duty, November, when the sum of £733 12s Id was received.
